Stepping Up for the Community
SteppingStones General Manager, Ms Ciara Aspinall, recently presented a donation of $695 to the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, which was accepted on behalf of the organisation by Ms Nicola Martyn. The donation was part of SteppingStones’ “Stepping Up for the Community” programme.
The Stepping Up for the Community programme, now in its third year, encourages all temporary support staff members and permanent staff members to make a donation from their salary to the programme which is then matched by SteppingStones and donated to local charities each month.
Ms Aspinall said involving employees in the Stepping Up for the Community programme had provided both the joy of giving and a strong company culture.
“Our giving culture starts with passionate employees who bring charities close to their hearts to our attention,” she said. “Organisations such as the Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, the Humane Society, Big Brothers Big Sister and the Pines Retirement Home, and many more, have benefited from our programme.”
“We are really proud that nearly all of our temporary support staff members and permanent staff members choose to be involved in the programme. Giving back inspires us to think beyond our own personal challenges and frustrations.”
“Without the support of the community, Cayman’s charitable organisations would be unable to continue to provide their important services. We are committed to the Cayman Islands and to giving back to the community in which we live and work,” Ms Aspinall said.
Ms Ania Milanowska-Sedgley, Executive Director of Cayman Islands Crisis Centre said the organisation was honoured to benefit from the support and generosity of SteppingStones.
“As a local, charitable organisation, the Crisis Centre depends heavily on the support of individuals and the corporate community in order to provide its extensive range of services,” she said. “Contributions, like this one from SteppingStones, directly impact the lives of the women and children who seek safe shelter at our centre.”
