Senior Accountant
Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate quarterly financial statements by gathering data, analyzing variances, summarizing information, and creating supporting schedules within specified deadlines.
- Oversee the general ledger and reporting systems to ensure the accuracy of accounting records and reports.
- Process calculations and post transactions in the general ledger, including consolidations and reconciliations with affiliated companies.
- Supply information for both internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit timelines.
- Prepare audited financial statements and disclosures in accordance with applicable reporting standards.
- Compile regulatory reports in line with local requirements and deadlines.
- Handle various tax filings and calculations according to specific local tax regulations.
- Address both routine and ad hoc requests by collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting relevant data.
- Contribute to the implementation and user-testing of financial projects and system upgrades.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including accounts receivables and expense reports within specified timeframes.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and a recognized public accounting designation are required.
- At least 5 years of experience in public accounting, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in the insurance or reinsurance sector, either in an industry role or as part of an audit function.
- Strong understanding of applicable reporting standards (IFRS or US GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Dynamics GP accounting software is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and uphold integrity in a professional setting.
This is a 5 month contracting opportunity with the potential to go permanent.
