Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will  be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of large machinery and construction equipment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and testing equipment to assess mechanical issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Repair or replace components to restore functionality and maintain operational safety.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
  • Review technical documents and schematics to guide repair and improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate with team members and supervisors to align maintenance activities with operational goals and safety protocols.
  • Test equipment post-repair to ensure it meets performance and safety benchmarks.
  • Source and order replacement parts as required to complete repairs.
  • Dismantling faulty equipment parts and installing new or fixed parts.
  • Cleaning and lubricating equipment and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Advising management on recommended equipment servicing and maintenance schedules.

Requirements:

  • Vocational certification or an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or related fields
  • Professional certifications will be advantageous 
  • 2+ years experience in heavy equipment maintenance is essential 
  • Excellent understanding of electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
