Compliance Program Manager - DMLCO/DMLRO

Description

In this role you will act as the Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) and Deputy Money Laundering Compliance Officer (DMLCO) for our client operations in the Cayman Islands. This is a key role in ensuring that our client adheres to all relevant laws and regulations, driving a culture of compliance, and mitigating risks associated with financial crime.

What you’ll do

Work closely with Executive and Senior Management to identify, assess, and manage compliance risks, ensuring the Bank operates ethically and in full regulatory compliance.

  • Review and maintain effective Systems and Controls to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, developing AML policies and procedures as needed.
  • Lead the implementation of a robust Risk-Based Compliance Monitoring Program (CMP), providing assurance to the Board and Management that compliance risks are being effectively mitigated.
  • Regularly review and maintain transaction monitoring thresholds, ensuring automated outputs are relevant. Act as the point of contact for investigating issues that require further investigation.
  • Assist in the collation of data for CIMA and other regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead investigations into unusual or suspicious activities, determining whether a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) needs to be filed.
  •  Manage and support the compliance team, ensuring team members are engaged, developed, and continuously improving in their roles.
  • Conduct independent quality assurance checks on customer files to ensure KYC compliance, particularly for low and medium-risk customers, and new high-risk accounts.
  • Conduct regular reviews of customer and employee complaints, ensuring that they do not indicate deficiencies in internal controls or regulatory breaches.

In the Absence of the Head of Compliance:

  • Serve as the principal point of contact for all compliance matters.
  • Act as the point of contact for regulatory requests, ensuring all reports are filed within the required timeframe.
  • Oversee quality assurance checks on customer files and manage any trends or training needs identified.

What you’ll bring

  • Proven experience in a senior compliance role, preferably within the financial services or banking industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, AML/CFT obligations, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to make decisions on complex compliance issues.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a compliance team, ensuring continuous development and high performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with senior stakeholders and external regulators effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to ensuring compliance.
