Do you have any spare time and would like to get more involved in the Cayman community? Volunteering is a great way to help others, while meeting people and making a contribution to the local community.
There are many societies and organisations on island that are always looking for a helping hand, and below are just a few suggestions.
Big Brothers Big Sisters – this is an organisation that provides friendship based mentoring programs for boys and girls.
Cayman Island Humane Society – the CIHS always need dog walkers, donations of supplies for the animals, volunteers to help in their book shop and thrift store, and just anyone who can spare a fre hours to spend with some of the cats and dogs at the shelter.

Cayman Islands Cancer Society – by becoming a member you can help to raise awareness and save lives. Annual membership is CI$25 for singles and CI$40 for a family. The CICS is always looking for volunteers. You can also donate unwanted magazines at boxes in Books & Books, Camana Bay and outside the CICS office.
Cayman Island Red Cross – this organisation works to establish Community Disaster Response Teams, who help in times of emergency or disaster. You can support the CIRC by donating clothes, books and toys.
You can also support these great charities by getting your colleagues involved, maybe volunteer for a beach clean-up, go to a dog walking event at the beach on weekends, or come up with an idea for a charity fundraiser. Either way, it’s great to give back to this wonderful island we live on!
