A Mantra of sorts – What I’ve learnt from working in Recruitment
For the past two years, I’ve been working in the recruitment industry and I’ve learnt A LOT!
Granted I started out as a Receptionist, working my way up to Recruitment Administrator, to find myself today as a Trainee/Junior Recruitment Consultant. Therefore, some might argue the majority of my learning has happened in the past 10 months, and in regards to recruitment, they’d probably be right.
While working for SteppingStones Recruitment, the leading recruitment firm here in Cayman, I’ve participated in various trainings, conferences, talks and presentations. From all of these there has been one thing that has stuck with me throughout, a mantra of sorts…
Control the Controllables
Recruitment has it’s extreme ups and downs; even on a day to day basis!
When things get out of control or go wrong, I constantly come back to that statement;
Control the Controllables
Realistically, you’ve done everything in your power to make things run smoothly, for every party involved to be happy, and at the end of the day, if things didn’t turn out how you wanted, if you had to break bad news to someone, you can find comfort in the fact that you controlled what you could.
This mantra is not only appropriate for the recruitment industry and recruiters, but for everyone. In everything you do.
So, when things don’t go your way, or how you planned; remember…
Control the Controllables
