Easter in the Cayman Islands
Easter is the only time it’s okay to put all your eggs in 1 basket!
Easter is a very special time in the Cayman Islands. The holiday centers on the religious event; both Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays and there is plenty of Easter themed entertainment to keep the whole family entertained. Below are the 3 most popular activities that you and your family can do over the Easter holidays!!
#1 – Get Back to Nature with Easter Camping!!
Quality family time by the Caribbean Sea, barbecues under the stars and one the island’s longstanding and most-loved traditions. Each year thousands of people look forward to spending their Easter camping on any of Cayman’s beaches. This is where people take the ultimate in staycations, eschewing the complexities of modernity in favor of communing with what’s truly important- bonding.
I’ve personally never camped before, which is something I hope to change. However, I would highly recommend it as this is a way of truly bringing the community together. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to get together and reminisce about simpler times, as well as enjoy the natural beauty of the Cayman coastline. Families start marking their spot in the days leading up to Good Friday, when they move in and begin a long weekend of fun filled activities such as swimming, fishing, playing games, barbequing and generally have a wonderful time!
Remember: “Don’t be a Litterbug” and always consider recycling your camping waste!
#2 – Brunch it Up
This is my #1 most favorite thing to do- brunches, yumm!! Brunches are even more appealing when there is a holiday the next day, so you’ll find Cayman’s popular brunch spots are even busier than usual on Easter Sunday. Hot spots include Kimpton Seafire, LUCA, the Ritz-Carlton, Marriott Beach Resort, the Westin, Aqua, Grand Old House, the Lighthouse, Mizu, Grand Old House and many more. Savor copious amounts of incredible food and free flowing bubbles, and then sleep it off on the beach or by the pool for a seriously relaxing day!
#3 – Sister Islands Visit
If it’s true peace and tranquillity you desire then take a short plane ride to Little Cayman or Cayman Brac. Enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of the islands as well as the incredible diving and unique cultural history.
