The largest pool of roles for those based overseas is within External Audit which is a wonderful way to get on-island experience. We have seen so many success stories of people relocating within Audit and moving out into industry roles after their contracts expire. Busy seasons can be tough in some of the firms though the client experience, US GAAP exposure and on-island experience always open a lot of doors post-contract.
A professional accounting designation and a minimum of 3 years’ experience is almost always required. This is true of both audit and accounting roles. Any internationally recognized accounting qualification is generally accepted here. Some examples of preferred qualifications are US CPA, Canadian CPA / CA, ACA, CA, CA(SA) and the ACCA.
